Sisterhood Story: Elizabeth

“Sororities aren’t for four years, they’re for life” is a phrase potential new members often hear when going through recruitment. Stories of bridesmaids, birthdays, and every life moment in between echo through recruitment rooms. But it wasn’t until I reached that part of my sorority journey that I realized how special these lifelong connections are.

How crazy is it that a decision I made on a whim when I was 19 years old is going to seriously enrich and impact my life forever?

After graduation, I’ve been able to volunteer in many ways within my sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, mentoring collegiate aged women as they walk through their own sorority journey. I’ve had the opportunity to initiate my own mother through our alumnae initiate program. I’ve rubbed elbows with many of our international presidents and had conversations with the most courageous women — women who push me to be better every single day. This environment is something you cannot find anywhere else, and I am so lucky to be a part of it.

It’s hard to put into words what sorority life has given me, but I certainly wouldn't be the woman I am today without it. I am so thankful and grateful for the women who have walked beside me, put handprints on my heart and changed me for good.
